On 10th December 2014 the Russian Government implemented a pilot scheme which requires all UK-based applicants to submit biometric data when applying for any visa at the application centres in the UK. The two UK-based consulates are located in London and Edinburgh, therefore requiring travellers to visit either of these two cities in order to complete their visa application.
Scanning your fingerprint is the new method the Russian Government are using, utilising modern technology to ensure correct identification.
Though visa agencies are unable to submit an application on your behalf due to this new ruling, The Travel Visa Company are now offering services to assist with your application where possible: from providing assistance over the phone and completing the online application, to a personal meet & greet with a Russian speaking specialist and collection/delivery of the issued visa. As Chinese New Year approaches and the year of the Horse comes to an end, it’s the turn of the Goat to be the spearhead of what is likely to be another prosperous year for China.
Chinese citizens around the world prepare for the festivities, whether that be hanging that last red lantern, perfecting the dragon dance or preparing to travel to be with their families all with the main goal to enjoy and celebrate this festival that has thrived for over 4000 years.
Wednesday 18th February (New Year’s Eve) to Tuesday 25th February is when the celebrations take place, and it is a great time to visit China. Why not visit Shanghai to embrace the buzz bouncing around the city for these festivities? Live concerts throughout the city only add to the atmosphere filled with excitement and enjoyment. Travel to Hong Kong and witness the spectacular fireworks display or spectate the Flower Fairs in the ‘Flower City’ Guangzhou.
China has many experiences to offer any traveller and this, in my opinion, is the pinnacle of what it can provide. An array of different activities along with the week-long party atmosphere and a vibrancy that can only come with these traditions makes for a great time and great memories.
Will this affect getting a visa for China?
The Chinese embassy will be closed from 18th, reopening on Monday 23rd, so those travelling to China will experience an extra 3-5 days delay when waiting for a visa to be issued. Those travelling to China will require a visa to enter so, for help in obtaining a Chinese Visa, contact The Travel Visa Company on 01270 250 590.
This week has seen The Travel Visa Company take part in two charity days for two very worthwhile causes. Wednesday 4th February was ‘World Cancer Day’ and we raised money by paying to bring in our slippers for the day….something we should do more often!
As the world’s largest independent cancer research charity, Cancer Research UK is almost entirely funded by the public. With over 200 types of cancer and more than 331,000 people diagnosed in the UK in 2011. Text ‘UNITE’ to 70200 to donate £3 to Cancer Research UK or donate online.
Friday 6th February was ‘Wear It. Beat It.’ through the British Heart Foundation. We all had to come in wearing something red and held a raffle for everybody to take part in. A surprise to most staff was the ‘Kissing Wall’ where we ALL had to wear lipstick and see who could get the boldest kiss, whose lips were whose and who had the best pout (unfortunately I didn’t win this!).
The BHF are the nation’s heart charity and largest independent funder of cardiovascular research. With coronary heart disease being the UK’s single biggest killer, their work is helping to change this. Text ‘RED’ to 70060 to donate £3 to help fund their life saving research.
We managed to raise £48.50 for the two fantastic causes and I would like to thank all the staff for taking part. We urge everybody to try and get involved in helping the community – with Comic Relief just around the corner you can start planning now!
